Who stole half the pins?
Today I finally experienced that quintessential of Canadian sports firsthand: not hockey, or even curling or lacrosse, but Canadian 5-pin bowling. Unlike those other sports, I'm pretty certain that most people in the rest of the world have never even heard of 5 pin bowling.
A little ball the size of a softball, with no holes in it.
Five sort of dinky pins, arranged in a flying-duck V kind of pattern.
And an utterly intimidating amount of open space between the pins. It's infuriatingly easy to roll the ball and hit only a single pin, and nothing else. But it's admittedly a really fun game.
Next stop, curling.
