Alarm 4
My alarm clock started to go off, so I sat up in bed, walked over to the clock, and hit the Snooze button. Nothing happened. I hit the Off button. The beeping continued.
"I must be having another one of those damn alarm dreams," I thought to myself. With my right hand I pinched my left arm as hard as I could, to wake myself up.
"Ow! That hurts!" I shouted to myself as I sat up in bed.
The beeping alarm reclaimed my attention, so I sat up once again, clambered over to the alarm clock, and pressed the Off button.
The beeping didn't stop.
With a sigh, I woke up again, for real this time, feeling horribly cheated that one of the inalienable laws of the universe had been violated (namely that pinching yourself is supposed to indicate whether you're dreaming) — violated to my disadvantage, no less.
